About the Role We are looking for a strong Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact team within PlayStation's Client Developer Experience (DevEx) team. This role sits at the center of how developers build, test, and ship software across client and system software teams. You will lead the development of modern developer platforms and tools, including documentation systems, intelligent search, performance tooling, and AI powered experiences. This role requires a balanced leader, someone who can grow and manage a high-performing team, while also maintaining strong technical depth to guide architecture, review designs, and support engineers at a code level when needed. You will operate across frontend-heavy developer experiences (JS, React, React Native) as well as backend/platform systems, shaping solutions that are both technically sound and highly usable for developers. What You'll DoLead, grow, and mentor a team of engineers, building a high-performing, ownership driven cultureDrive delivery of developer platforms and tools used across PlayStationProvide technical leadership at both code and system design levels, especially for frontend and developer-facing systemsGuide the design and evolution of complex, scalable systems across frontend, backend, and platform layersPartner with AI/ML, QE, System Software, and Product teams to align on priorities and executionInfluence cross-team technical decisions and ensure strong alignment across partner organizationsBalance short-term delivery with long-term platform strategyEnsure high-quality developer experiences by focusing on usability, performance, and reliabilityIdentify gaps, remove blockers, and drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces What We're Looking For7-10 years of overall software engineering experience with 3-5+ years of experience managing engineering teams.Strong technical background with hands-on understanding of frontend systems (JavaScript, React, React Native) and solid backend/platform fundamentalsAbility to operate at code-level depth when needed (design reviews, debugging, guiding engineers)Proven experience designing and delivering complex, distributed systemsTrack record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teamsExperience working on developer tools, internal platforms, or productivity systemsStrong ability to influence and align stakeholders across teamsExcellent communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiencesAbility to operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous environmentsBachelors degree or equivalent Nice to HaveExperience with Python or backend services supporting developer platformsExperience with AI/ML-driven workflows or developer toolingBackground in performance profiling and or developer ecosystemsExperience in large-scale, multi-team environments You will operate in a role that requires leadership, technical depth, and cross-org influence Equal Opportunity Statement: Sony is an Equal Opportunity Employer. At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
