Application Engineer – Industrial Metrology (U.S.)Travel: ~50% Domestic Travel, Occasionally InternationalMetronor is seeking a highly motivated Application Engineer to join our U.S.-based team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working directly with customers, and supporting advanced metrology systems across a wide range of industries. The position combines hands-on engineering, customer training, field support, and technical sales activities.You will support customers and partners throughout the United States and the broader North American region.There is a clear career path into higher-earning a Sales/Sales Engineering role for those who are interested and capable.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct on-site and virtual product demonstrations for prospective customersDeliver customer training on hardware, software, and metrology workflowsPerform system installations, configurations, and acceptance testing at customer facilitiesProvide applications support, both remotely (phone, email, online) and on-siteSupport sales activities through application expertise and project scopingRepresent Metronor at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer eventsLead extended prove-out sessions for measurement systemsRequired QualificationsStrong entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take ownershipBachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline—or equivalent technical experienceAbility to travel up to 50%Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong problem-solving abilities and comfort working independently and in teamsStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications (Not Required)Experience with 3D measurement technologies (laser trackers, photogrammetry, CMMs, optical systems, etc.)Hands-on knowledge of CAD/CAM, GD&T, or CNC machining of complex partsPrior experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or field serviceBackground in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, energy, or heavy industryCreative, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-moving environmentInterest in moving into a hybrid role focused on technical applications and commercial responsibilitiesBackground in energy, automotive, tube & pipe, shipbuilding or similar manufacturing environmentsWhat We OfferOpportunity to work with leading organizations in the aerospace, automotive, energy, defense and heavy industrial sectorsExposure to advanced manufacturing methodologies including lean manufacturing, moving-line assembly, and process optimizationA global work environment with headquarters in Norway and subsidiaries in Germany and AsiaCompetitive compensation and an excellent benefits packageA chance to contribute to a fast-growing technology company developing cutting-edge portable, large-volume metrology systemsAbout MetronorMetronor is a rapidly growing, privately held Metrology technology company headquartered near Oslo, Norway, with regional offices in the United States and Germany.
