Registered Nurse Position Summary The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care using evidence-based practice and clinical judgment. The RN works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients while promoting a culture of safety, respect, and excellence. Key Responsibilities Patient Care Delivery Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately Develop individualized plans of care based on patient needs, diagnosis, and clinical goals Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with hospital policies and standards Monitor patient condition, recognize changes, and intervene promptly Provide patient and family education related to diagnosis, treatment, and discharge Safety and Compliance Adhere to all patient safety protocols, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements Utilize safe patient-handling equipment and techniques to prevent falls and injuries Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record Collaboration and Communication Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, social workers, and support staff Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to care planning Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure continuity of care Professional Practice Demonstrate clinical competence and commitment to professional growth Participate in ongoing education, skills validation, and required certifications Support unit-based initiatives, quality improvement projects, and evidence-based practice changes Precept and mentor new nurses, students, and support staff as assigned Organizational Contribution Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization Contribute to positive patient experience outcomes and patient satisfaction goals Promote a respectful, inclusive, and supportive work environment Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred or required depending on organizational standard Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice Certifications: Current BLS required: ACLS, PALS, or specialty certifications Experience: Previous clinical experience preferred; specialty experience may be required depending on unit Core Competencies Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills Effective communication and teamwork abilities Compassionate and patient-focused care approach Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement RWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer
