Job Title: Systems Administrator III (Multi-Cloud Engineer)Location: Gaithersburg, MDPosition OverviewAs a Systems Administrator III (Multi-Cloud Engineer) supporting the Federal Trade Commission SNS program, you will operate effectively across multiple cloud environments—including AWS, Azure, and GCP—without reliance on rigid team boundaries. This is not a traditional, siloed service desk role; you will strategically design complex solutions using well-architected frameworks, develop reusable cloud patterns using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for self-service secure delivery, and adapt to changing cloud service provider offerings, regulatory compliance requirements, and business needs.Key ResponsibilitiesSolution Design: Operate effectively across multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and develop/implement reusable cloud patterns and solutions using Infrastructure as Code for self-service secure delivery based on well-architected frameworks.Continuous Monitoring: Drive continuous improvement of compliance and cyber posture through AWS Security Hub CSPM, Config/CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and integration with Azure Defender, while developing and maturing guardrails and governance policies.Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve problems within AWS cloud environments, document and communicate issues for knowledge transfer, identify the right resources for support, and keep operations moving fluidly.Networking: Diagnose and address network connectivity issues, maintain and correct security groups, route tables, subnet and VPC allocations, VPNs and peerings, while balancing reliability and costs.FinOps: Effectively manage resource costs, budgets, anomalies, and reporting.Data Analytics: Manage big data analytics platforms and workloads, and intelligently manage data tiers.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in information systems or a relevant field with 4+ years of practical experience, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of practical experience (additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree).Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.Ability to self-manage work tasks using M365-based tools.Demonstrated and proven ability to independently resolve issues, improve day-to-day operations with self-driven initiatives, and operate with a growth mindset.Hands-on experience building and architecting multi-cloud networks with secure routing and firewalls.Understanding and practical exposure with regulatory controls, baselines, and security policies within AWS cloud environments (e.g., CIS benchmarks, STIG).Hands-on experience building solutions with CloudFormation, Terraform, or other infrastructure tools.Preferred QualificationsOperational exposure and experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Operational exposure and experience with containerization technologies and methodologies.Technical SkillsCloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCPInfrastructure as Code & Tools: CloudFormation, TerraformSecurity & Compliance: AWS Security Hub CSPM, Config/CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Azure Defender, CIS benchmarks, STIGNetworking: Security groups, route tables, subnet and VPC allocations, VPNs, peeringsProductivity Tools: M365-based toolsEducation & CertificationsRequired Degree: Bachelor’s degree in information systems or relevant field (4+ years experience) or Master’s degree (2+ years experience); additional experience accepted in lieu of a degree.ExperienceRequired Experience: 4+ years of practical field experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 2+ years with a Master's degree (equivalent experience accepted).Additional RequirementsCitizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.Security Clearance: Public Trust clearance required (candidates can start prior to clearance completion while the Public Trust is processing).
