Job Overview:
The Lead Web Developer is responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing branded marketing and e-commerce websites that strengthen clients’ digital presence while providing technical leadership and project support within a fast-paced agency environment. This role combines hands-on web development with structured project scoping, workload management, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality.
The Lead Web Developer works closely with design, copy, digital, account management, and leadership teams to foster a collaborative, accountable, and efficient work environment. In addition to mentoring and supporting other web developers, this role is responsible for managing and prioritizing work from the project queue, assessing project scope, and estimating timelines to support accurate quoting and planning.
While this position provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to fellow developers, it does not include direct people management responsibilities. Instead, the role focuses on establishing best practices, supporting team members, and upholding consistent technical and quality standards across all web projects.
Responsibilities & DutiesWeb Maintenance (40%)
Maintain, update, and optimize existing WordPress and Shopify marketing and e-commerce websites to ensure ongoing performance, security, accessibility, and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve website issues efficiently while maintaining quality standards and adherence to best practices.
Perform routine updates, enhancements, and fixes while ensuring sites remain aligned with SEO, performance, and accessibility best practices.
Build, test, and deploy marketing and email integrations, including Klaviyo and Mailchimp, as part of ongoing site maintenance and optimization.
Maintain organized documentation, assets, and records related to ongoing maintenance work.
Web Development (40%)
Develop and enhance marketing and e-commerce websites using WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce, Figma, and BigCommerce, while working within existing themes and frameworks, with custom development as needed.
Implement UX/UI recommendations in close collaboration with design and digital teams, ensuring accurate execution and high-quality user experiences.
Develop scalable, maintainable solutions that balance corporate design systems with custom development needs.
Serve as a technical resource for complex development challenges and architectural decisions.
Establish, document, and uphold development standards, workflows, and best practices across projects.
Mentor and support other web developers through code review, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance to promote consistency, quality, and professional growth.
Stay current with web development trends and recommend improvements that strengthen FPW’s web capabilities.
Project Scoping (15%)
Accurately assess project scope, complexity, timelines, and required resources to support quoting, planning, budgeting, and resource balancing.
Provide reliable time estimates and proactively identify risks, dependencies, and potential scope changes.
Track project progress, communicating clearly and consistently with account management, design, copy, digital, and leadership teams to ensure alignment, smooth handoffs, and shared expectations..
Serve as a solutions-oriented team member, focused on practical outcomes, efficiency, and client success.
Additional Responsibilities (5%)
Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, profitability, and team capacity.
Support accurate documentation, asset organization, and knowledge sharing across ongoing and completed projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Computer Science, or a related field
Minimum 3 years of professional web development experience
Minimum 1 year of agency experience
Demonstrated professional experience with WordPress, Shopify, BigCommerce, and Figma e-commerce platforms
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL
Proven ability to scope projects accurately, estimate timelines, and assess budget impact
Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and switch gears quickly
Collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Ability to work on-site and live in the Eugene/Springfield area
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity withMailchimp and Klaviyo
Experience working within pre-built themes and corporate design systems
SEO optimization and performance tuning experience
Prior experience mentoring or supporting other developers in an agency or team environment

Pay: $58,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
