LEAD HVAC Estimator

Lead HVAC EstimatorDepartment: Preconstruction / Estimating Reports To: VP of Operations or Preconstruction Manager Location: Nashville, TN Position Summary:The Lead HVAC Estimator is responsible for overseeing the estimating process for commercial mechanical projects, including HVAC systems, piping, and related mechanical scopes. This role leads the estimating team, develops competitive and accurate bids, and works closely with project management, operations, and executive leadership to secure profitable projects. The Lead HVAC Estimator ensures all estimates align with company standards, market conditions, and project requirements while supporting business growth and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients. Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating LeadershipLead and coordinate the estimating team for commercial HVAC projects. Review and assign bid opportunities to estimators. Establish estimating strategies and procedures. Ensure consistency and accuracy in all estimates. Project EstimatingPrepare detailed cost estimates for commercial HVAC and mechanical systems. Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids. Bid ManagementReview project specifications and drawings to determine scope. Lead bid reviews and risk assessments. Prepare bid proposals and scope clarifications. Ensure estimates meet company profit margin targets. CollaborationWork with project managers and operations during preconstruction. Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits. Assist with project handoff to the project management team after award. Vendor and Subcontractor RelationsDevelop relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Negotiate pricing and scope. Maintain updated pricing databases. Process ImprovementTrack bid results and performance metrics. Improve estimating accuracy and procedures. Maintain historical cost databases.
