Application Engineer - Switchboard/RMU Subject Matter Expert
Location: HoustonEngineering: DEPENGThe OpportunityThe Switchboard / RMU Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as the technical authority for low- and medium-voltage switchboards, switchgear lineups, and Ring Main Unit (RMU) systems integrated into Integra Mission Critical’s modular power platforms.What you will do?Serve as enterprise-level technical expert for:Low-voltage switchboards and switchgearMedium-voltage switchgear and distributionRing Main Units (RMUs)Bus systems and distribution assembliesDevelop and maintain electrical distribution design standards and specifications.Define standard breaker configurations, bus ratings, fault duty requirements, and redundancy strategies.Establish arc-flash mitigation and protection coordination standards.Ensure alignment with NEC, UL 891, UL 1558, IEEE, and applicable medium-voltage standards.Partner with Product Engineering to standardize switchboard and RMU platforms for modular deployment.Define scalable configurations that support rapid manufacturing and repeatable installation.Review and approve equipment layouts, bus bracing, compartmentalization, and accessibility considerations.Support value engineering initiatives while maintaining system reliability and compliance.Required Qualifications10+ years of experience in switchgear, switchboard, or medium-voltage distribution system design.Strong background in protection coordination and power system analysis.Experience supporting energization and commissioning in mission-critical or industrial environments.Deep knowledge of NEC and relevant UL/IEEE standards.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.Experience in data centers, utility interconnection, healthcare, or industrial facilities.Experience with modular or prefabricated power infrastructure.Familiarity with digital relays and power monitoring systems.How We Support YouWe believe your best work happens when you feel supported - professionally, personally, and financially.
