Senior Civil/Structural Designer
Senior Civil/Structural Designer Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and self-directed Senior Civil/Structural Designer to join our onsite Capex Design Engineering team. This role is responsible for independently leading the production of civil and structural design deliverables across capital projects at our on-site manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge across concrete, steel, and civil disciplines, strong estimating skills, and the ability to execute detailed design from FEL3 through construction - all while thriving in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and contributing positively to a collaborative team culture.Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:Independently produce civil and structural design deliverables including plans, sections, and details for:Structural steel and concrete (foundations, slabs, equipment pads, platforms, pipe racks, etc.)Civil scope including grading, drainage, paving, and site layoutDevelop and manage detailed design packages from FEL3 estimating through final construction documentsPrepare accurate project cost estimates, with strong emphasis on FEL3-level estimatingMaintain organized and accurate design files in compliance with department standards Modeling & SoftwareProduce construction drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and CADWorxUtilize Recap for laser scan data integration and existing conditions modelingApply additional engineering or modeling tools as available to improve design quality and efficiency Field Work & Site SupportConduct field surveys and site walk-downs to verify existing conditions and confirm design constructabilitySupport installation and commissioning activities on-site, including physically accessing equipment areas (climbing, lifting, working at height)Read and interpret field measurements and accurately document findingsInterface with contractors and site personnel to resolve field issues in real time Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with electrical, mechanical, process, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure fully coordinated design packagesParticipate actively in project meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary problem-solvingMentor and provide technical guidance to mid-level and junior designersPromote a positive, collaborative team environment across all disciplines Standards & ComplianceEnsure all designs conform to applicable codes and standardsApply site engineering standards and project-specific requirements consistentlyThis position offers a highly competitive compensation package, including paid time off, health insurance benefits, and matching retirement contributions.Ideal BackgroundEducation: Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.Certification: Certification is not required at this level.Experience: This position requires 7+ years of relevant industrial experience in an industrial or manufacturing capital projects environmentRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to work independently and lead design efforts without direct supervisionProven experience with FEL3 estimating and detailed design through constructionExperience with brownfield/retrofit projects in an active manufacturing facility is strongly preferred Technical SkillsProficiency in AutoCAD and CADWorx for drawing production and 3D plant modelingExperience with Recap for laser scan utilization and integration into design workflowsStrong working knowledge of related civil/structural design codesAbility to read, interpret, and mark up multidisciplinary engineering drawings and specificationsFamiliarity with any additional design or project management tools is a plus Physical RequirementsAbility to perform field work including climbing ladders and structures, lifting up to 30 lbs, working in confined or elevated spaces, and reading measuring tapes and field instrumentsComfortable working in active industrial/manufacturing environmentsPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.Hargrove CultureWe work to create an environment founded on trust, personal integrity, and a "team mentality" so that each person understands the value of their contributions both on a project and company-wide level.
