General Job Description: The Instructional Coach serves as a member under the Leman Academy of Excellence Professional Development department. They will work alongside the Site Principal and Director of Curriculum and Instruction in shepherding a group of teachers in areas of academic excellence, effective teaching strategies, classical education, Charlotte Mason techniques, and Dr. Leman's philosophies that are congruent to our mission statement.
Line of Authority/Reports to: Works with Site Principal day-to-day/ Reports directly to Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Works with: Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Site Admin team, and teachers.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years teaching experience with a successful record of positively impacting scholars' learning.
Master's degree in an educational field preferred
Demonstrates leaderships skills with teachers and Administration
Must possess excellent instructional delivery techniques and the potential and heart to be trained to coach and conference with teachers in effective instructional techniques and strategies, especially those related to classical education
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels within the school district/system
Proven leadership ability promoting collaborative decision making
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong commitment to supporting and safeguarding the principles of excellence in education
Possess a working knowledge of pedagogy, instructional methodology, curriculum development, and cognitive coaching
Possess a working knowledge and understanding of Charlotte Mason's educational philosophy and methodology
Possess a working knowledge and understanding of Classical Education's educational philosophy and methodology
Possess a working knowledge of Dr. Kevin Leman's foundational principles
Possess a working knowledge and understanding of Data-Driven Instruction
Experience in curriculum development preferred
Job Goals
Work with Director of Curriculum and Instruction, site Administrators, and assigned teachers to ensure high academic performance outcomes for all scholars
Promote and model excellent qualities in service leadership, educational leadership, symbolic leadership, and cultural leadership
Promote scholar advancement through cognitive coaching conversations with teachers
Work with Director of Curriculum and Instruction to develop, evaluate, and revise the LAE Curriculum Map and assess the effectiveness of the chosen curriculum in the classroom
Bring evidence-based practices into the classroom that align with LAE Mission and Vision
Expectations
Participate in cognitive coaching trainings
Builds trust with each teacher
Work with Director of Curriculum and Instruction to solve challenges as they arise
Attend monthly Instructional Coaching Meetings
Attend weekly Admin meetings at site
Attend curriculum meetings
Plan, participate, and coordinate Leman University Trainings
Meet monthly with new teachers on specific needs/topics
Conduct weekly classroom observations documenting data in LoTi (non-evaluative)
Post-conference with teachers following classroom observations to provide feedback for the teacher's professional growth and scholar success
Participate in LoTi training
Guide teachers in lesson planning, lesson delivery, assessment techniques, and best classroom practices
Model (co-teach) lessons as needed
Send monthly communications regarding PD schedule
Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, and information to support classroom instruction and planning

Improve scholar and teacher performance in targeted areas
Change in Classical teaching practices that enhance the learning environment and positively impact scholar outcomes.
