Shop Associate for the Friends of the Akron Public Library

Basic volunteer duties involved with this assignment:Provide services for the Shop similar to any retail shop, including good customer service Use of cash register, assists patrons in finding materials, keeps Shop in orderly appearance Opens & closes the shop using detailed procedures during their shift Basic volunteer qualifications involved in this assignment: Ability to learn simple cash register procedures, good communication skills. Must pass a background check due to handling money. Who will be served by this assignment: Akron Summit County Public Library & its patrons. What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service? Friends of the Main Library Shop provides excellent low-cost reusable books & other educational materials to the public while profits support the Akron Summit County Public Library. What special skills will the volunteer need? Ability to use a cash register. Due to the current size & spacing in the Shop, it is not wheelchair accessible.
