Park Manager

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and administration of the assigned Precinct One Park. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the park's safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness to visitors, while also managing staff, budgets, and other resources effectively. Participate in maintenance activities. Plan, maintain work systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage optimum performance of people and other resources. Assists with opening and closing parks. Assist Regional Manager with the development of annual work plans and annual budgets. Assist Regional Manager with employee performance, disciplinary, evaluation, and coaching. Monitors supplies, and equipment inventory. Submit re-stock orders to Regional Manager for approval. Assists with the development of and participates in training programs for proper use of equipment and tools. Preparing and maintaining reports is necessary to carry out the functions of the department and track strategic goal accomplishments. Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department. Ensures compliance with safety protocols and precinct policies and procedures. Reports safety concerns to management and assists with plans to address safety issues. Reports on accidents and injuries to the Regional Manager. Participate in Park and Recreation industry events, conferences, and professional development opportunities. You will be surrounded by coworkers who bring their best to work each day. What you will bring to Precinct One - Requirements Bachelor's degree in Park and Resource Management, Recreation and Park Administration, Environmental Resources, Forestry, Arboriculture, or a closely related field preferred Experience and/or technical training may substitute for education. Minimum of three years of experience in park maintenance, including tasks such as landscaping, groundskeeping, facility repairs, and general upkeep of park areas. Three (3) years of experience leading or supervising the work of others. Valid Texas State Driver's License Knowledge of best practices in the field of park maintenance & grounds keeping Relevant experience in operating commercial-grade landscaping equipment Experience in use of standard office equipment Proficiency in Microsoft software applications such as Outlook, WORD, Excel, and PowerPoint Qualifying education, experience, knowledge and skills must be documented on your job application. The four elected commissioners, along with an elected county judge, serve as members of the Harris County Commissioners Court, the county's governing body. With approximately 1.1 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct One's multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 39 percent African American, 37 percent Latino, 18 percent Anglo, 5 percent Asian, and 1 percent other. Precinct One, which includes 876 miles of road, stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct's territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park, and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the NRG Sports and Convention Complex, and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The precinct is also the educational home to Houston Community College, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages 25 parks, 11 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers, and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.
