Job Location: 100% Remote
Job Description:
The primary goals of a Product Engineer is to assist in designing, maintaining, and improving their designated application. This entails working with other teams such as software development, infrastructure, and Engineers from other product teams, as well as client representatives and application users. The product Engineer will evaluate system workflow and performance and suggest any improvements as identified through use of the system, evaluating user suggestions or complaints, or accepting bugs, requests and/or suggestions from other teams. Product Engineers will be responsible for translating these accepted bugs, improvements, suggestions, etc. into development tickets, and make recommendations on prioritization of these tickets based on their combined knowledge of the system, user impact, and any impact on other partner systems as appropriate.
Qualifications:
3+ years' experience consulting and supporting information technology projects.
Experience supporting enterprise software solutions using the OpenText (or similar) products.
Blend of project management and product engineering experience supporting enterprise organizations (federal agency experience highly preferred).
Typical Duties/Abilities:
Maintain situational awareness of assigned product and address any identified issues, bugs, and improvements.
Assist in troubleshooting identified issues in the system and provide suggestions to leadership or direction in regard resolution as appropriate.
Evaluate bugs and/or system improvements and provide suggestions to team leadership in regard to resolution and priority.
Work with the ALM system in order to create, modify, and prioritize tickets to assist the software development team in team resource allocations and system priorities.
Engage with Software, Infrastructure and/or Operations teams to identify and implement monitoring capabilities (i.e., dashboards, alerts, etc....)
Engage with partner organizations and users as needed to help identify and resolve reported issues impacting workflow usability and availability.
Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics) as necessary to assist in troubleshooting production issues to develop useful alerts and/or dashboards.
Understand the workflow and system demographics to efficiently make improvement suggestions and troubleshoot production issues.
Research and recommend technology insertions into hardware and software architecture.
Coordinate and/or participate in meetings internally and externally (including troubleshooting sessions) as needed to address any production actions or issues.
Understand any additional duties and intricacies that pertain to the Engineer's assigned product team(s)
Soft Skills
Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts)
Strong communication and collaboration skills with a track record of taking solution ownership.
Communication skills key! Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate with leadership and key stakeholders.
Ability to articulate and document design and configuration choices as well as bring about consensus amongst key stakeholders.
Education/Certifications:
Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field or has equivalent work experience
Minimum of 3 years of consulting and/or directly relevant industry experience
