DSHS BHA Community Resource Program Manager (Patient Advocate) In this role at Olympic Heritage Behavioral Health in Tukwila, WA, you will serve as a patient advocate and central resource for patients, families, and representatives to share concerns, complaints, and suggestions. As the facility's patient advocate, the Community Resource Program Manager interacts with patients, their families and support systems, hospital staff, community providers, and hospital administration to address and facilitate the resolution of consumer concerns and to provide advocacy intervention when indicated. The primary purpose of the position is to be a steward in upholding patients’ rights, be an agent of change to ensure patient issues are resolved, and contribute to improvements in the delivery of patient care and services. This is a high-visibility position that interacts with all departments across the facility and requires independent decision making, high level of interpersonal communications and public relations skills, and strong conflict management skills. Some of what you'll do: Serve as a subject matter expert on patient experiences and advocate for patients at OHBHAdvocate on behalf of patients to resolve their complaints, conflicts, and issues with clinical services, hospital support services, employees, environment of care, and other services across all shifts as neededAssist patients in addressing concerns related to patient rights and facilitates meetings with clinical/department staff to address issuesPerform a significant role in ensuring patients making allegations are properly referred to file grievances and allegations of abuse and neglect. Refer patients to appropriate services to address their concerns. (Note: This position does not conduct internal investigations into allegations of abuse or neglect) Responsible for ensuring the patients get the proper paperwork and follow-up support; facilitate the completion of forms and other paperwork. Advocate for the patient complaints and concerns to be resolved in a timely and accurate manner. Provide oversight to ensure timely follow-up through satisfactory resolution of patient complaints. Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, including Department of Health standards and Conditions of Participation for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other regulatory requirements governing patient rights.Who should apply: Professional with: A Bachelor's degree in social services, public health, behavioral science, community development, communications, marketing, public or business administration or an allied field. Lived experience is a highly desirable condition for this opportunity; ANDFour years of experience in managing or developing community-based resource programs or direct service delivery including community resource problem-solving for clients or development of social services programs; work experience should include two years of experience supervising paid or unpaid staff; ORA Master's degree involving major study in one of the above fields may be substituted for one year of the required experience.Additional qualifying experience in patient rights advocacy may be substituted, year for year, for education Must hold a valid driver's license when operating a state or privately owned vehicle on official state business. Desired Skills/Experience: Two years of experience providing advocacy services for people receiving mental health treatmentAbility to advise and assist new and current hospital patients in understanding their rights and responsibilities with federal, state, department, and hospital policies and procedures Knowledge of Patient Rights and laws governing those rightsIn-depth working knowledge of group behavior and dynamicsExperience in intervening and de-escalating crisis/dangerous situationsKnowledge of all hospital, state, and federal regulatory standards, policies, and proceduresKing County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
