Hybrid Remote Controller - Online Retail

We are an established and growing apparel company seeking a high-caliber accounting leader to join us as Assistant Controller. This key role will oversee daily accounting operations and financial reporting, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility for the full scope of the Controller function in a growing multi-channel retail and e-commerce environment.Key Responsibilities :Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and reconciliations.Lead inventory and cost accounting processes in a multi-channel retail and e-commerce environment.Manage and develop a small team of accounting professionals while partnering closely with operations and leadership.Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain strong internal controls, with particular focus on retail/apparel industry nuances.Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reports for senior leadership.Support external audits, tax filings, and lender/corporate reporting requirements.Drive process improvements and system enhancements to scale the finance function as the company grows.Serve as a key strategic partner to the business, providing financial insights and recommendations.Take increasing ownership of the full Controller responsibilities over the first 6-12 months, including leadership of the entire accounting team and finance operations.Qualifications & Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or Assistant Controller capacity within a retail, e-commerce, or apparel company.Deep knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles as they relate to retail and online retail operations (inventory, revenue recognition, costing, etc.).Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with financial modeling a plus.Proven track record of leading month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.Hard-working with exceptional work ethic and a hands-on, "roll-up-your-sleeves" mentality.Sharp, intelligent, and inquisitive with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Positive, proactive can-do attitude and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, growing environment.Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.This role offers an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to step into a Controller position at a competitive compensation level, with potential equity participation.
