Welder

The Welder is responsible for performing high-quality precision welding using the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) process. This role requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to work with a variety of metals, and a commitment to producing clean, structurally sound welds that meet company and customer specifications.About Axle Box InnovationsOur tech development organizations are made up of leading talent with diverse backgrounds that focus on advancing and developing technologies for the public safety industry, first responders, and our armed forces.DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesPerform TIG welding on materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steelRead and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work instructionsSet up welding equipment, including selecting proper tungsten, filler materials, and machine settingsEnsure welds meet quality standards, including appearance and structural integrityInspect completed welds using measuring tools and visual inspection techniquesMaintain a clean and organized work areaFollow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPEWork closely with fabrication and quality teams to meet production goalsPerform minor equipment maintenance and troubleshooting QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required2+ years of TIG welding experience (or equivalent training/certification)Ability to pass a TIG weld test (if applicable)Strong understanding of welding techniques and metallurgyBasic math skills and ability to use measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, etc.) Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for long periodsLift up to 50 lbs occasionallyManual dexterity and hand-eye coordinationAbility to work in a non-climate-controlled environment Work EnvironmentManufacturing or fabrication shop settingExposure to heat, noise, and welding fumesUse of personal protective equipment required Key CompetenciesAttention to detailQuality-focused mindsetReliability and dependabilityTeam collaborationProblem-solving skills
