Req # 36000024General Statement Of ResponsibilitiesThis is a FLSA exempt position. The Medical Director is responsible for supervising the staff Nursing Director, Psychiatrist(s) and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners as well as coordinating and providing training to psychiatric residents. In addition, provides quality psychiatric evaluation and treatment for patients on various Region Ten teams. The Medical Director provides supervision and consultation to other members of the clinical staff about clinical and agency policy issues that impact on clinical situations. In addition, the Medical Director hears and reviews clinical presentations on both new and ongoing cases for clinical supervision and medicolegal purposes. The incumbent or delegated medical staff provides occasional presentations for staff development or community education and serves as liaison to medical staff of other agencies in the community or region in clinical and policy mattersThe incumbent receives supervision and consultation in regards to clinical operations of the Psychiatric services and overall agency needs as they related to psychiatric and nursing care. The incumbent exercises sound judgment, is cooperative, is able to work well with others, and maintains confidentiality when performing assigned duties and responsibilities. In carrying out position duties, he/she performs in accordance with applicable professional ethics, licensure standards and established Region Ten policies. The incumbent works with Senior Director and Senior Leadership to support agency policies and program needs as they relate to Psychiatric care and specific requirements related to medical care throughout the agency.QualificationsThe incumbent is required by laws of the Commonwealth to have a M.D. degree, and a license to practice medicine in Virginia. He/she must show completion of an accredited Psychiatric residency and eligibility or certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. In addition, the incumbent must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:Knowledge of: psychiatric illness and wellness, some general medical knowledge pertinent to differential diagnosis; working on multi-disciplinary team; role of psychiatrist community behavioral health; management skills (basic).Skills in: psychiatric diagnosis and treatment; consultation and collaboration with other mental health professionals; administrative and clinical supervision.Abilities to: provide leadership, align with organizational priorities and values, psychiatric evaluation and treatment; interpret policies accurately and diplomatically; communicate effectively with a wide range of personalities.POSITION LOCATION: Region Ten Community Services Board800 Preston AvenueCharlottesville, VA 22903GRADE: 23Employment Type: Full TimeSalary: $158,000 - $237,000 AnnualBonus/Commission: No
