As a Field Training Officer, supervises and coordinates the orientation activities of newly hired employees participating in the department’s formal new hire field training program or ride-along basic level students while on an ambulance in field internship.ResponsibilitiesHuman Resource Management - This duty involves leading newly hired EMS employees in the performance of daily duties, and the one-on-one training, development, and evaluation of new employees of Piedmont Emergency Medical ServicesCommunity Relations - This duty involves dealing with inquiries of the community and projecting the culture of the department to the public and delivering safety, injury, and illness prevention education programs, according to the following job performance requirements Administration - This duty involves performing routine administrative duties in connection with the operation of an EMS unit, the response to EMS dispatches of all types, and the ability to manage unit level administrative work including documentation associated with the department’s field training programEmergency Service Delivery - This duty involves responding to requests for service, managing smaller scope incidents completely, and managing the initial aspects of an incident of any size, while providing appropriate coordination and supervision to other employees of the assigned unit.Health and Safety - This duty involves serving as a role model, teacher, and evaluator of safe work practices, and preparing new employees to work unsupervised in a safe manner. Performs related duties as required.QualificationsRequiredEducation: Completion of a certificate level basicEMT-I program High School Diploma required Experience:At least two years full time experience as a line EMS provider with Piedmont Emergency Medical Services as an EMT and/or EMT-I Completion of Piedmont Emergency Medical Services’ Field Training Officer Program with a competency score of 80% or greater on the final exam General Prerequisite Knowledge.The organizational structure of Piedmont Emergency Medical Services; geographical configuration and characteristics of response districts; emergency operations, incident management systems, safety practices, and policies and procedures regarding the operation the department as they involve line EMS providers. General Prerequisite Skills.The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing utilizing technology provided by Piedmont Emergency Medical Services; write reports, letters, and memos utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs; and effectively operate at initial incident management levels in the incident management system utilized by Piedmont Emergency Medical Services and York County Certification:South Carolina EMT and/or EMT-I certification BCLS (within 7 days of hire)- with the ability to obtain instructor status PEPP or PALS- with the ability to obtain instructor status Valid South Carolina or North Carolina Drivers License Preferred:Education: Associate Degree in Health Sciences or related field preferred Certification:NREMT-EMT and/or EMT-I Certificate preferredCompletion of the NAEMT EMS Safety Course preferred Organization DescriptionPiedmont Medical Center (PMC) has served the community of York County and beyond for more than 30 years.
