Process Technician
DescriptionThe Process Technician coordinates the process operation of the preparation equipment with plant personnel to produce flaked raw soybeans for extraction and finished soy meal within required product and energy use specifications.Perform duties required to operate the preparation and finished meal equipment in a safe and efficient manner.Complete the necessary paperwork required in the record keeping of the preparation and finished meal process.Perform the necessary safety checks to maintain the equipment in safe and efficient operating condition.Communicate any process problems that may occur and participate in problem solving.Maintain Master Sanitation Schedule to SDSP sanitation standards.Perform tasks as assigned during operational and non-operational times.After six months of service a review will be given on the following areas: basic knowledge of the R.O. system for starting, stopping, and knowing when a problem is occurring; basic knowledge of the boilers concerning operating in the event of a shutdown or start up; basic knowledge of the process and computers, ability to give the control room technician relief for short periods of time; procedures on sieve analysis, PerCon and how adjustments are made; and conduct a walkthrough of all areas of preparation, able to identify equipment and explain its purpose to the process.Comply with SDSP's Safe Quality Food (SQF) food safety program and polices.Perform duties outside normal responsibilities as needed to support the team and overall organizational goals.Be a good steward of company resources.RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentPossess the ability to process new information and communicate with others both verbally and in writing.Must be able to train fellow associates and management staffAble to consistently demonstrate basic math, computer and typing skillsMust actively participate as a team member to maintain a safe and positive work environment.Shift Availability RequirementsSDSP operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This position works 12 hour shifts from 7am - 7pm & 7pm - 7am.Process Technicians must be available to switch from day shift to night shift every 8 days and rotate between 4 consecutive 12 hour shifts, followed by 4 days off, and return to work the opposite shift for 4 consecutive shifts.Must be available to work shifts that fall on weekends and holidays.Night shift receives shift differential pay.Holidays worked are paid double time and a half.Physical RequirementsMust Possess the Ability to Do the Following Frequently:Bend, squat, kneelSit, stand, walkClimb Ladders and StairsHandle ObjectsPush/Pull, Carry/Lift 25-50lbsReach Above Shoulder LevelWorking conditionsExposed to excessive noiseDrives motorized equipmentOccasionally exposed to dustWork around moving machineryWork in confined spacesOccasionally exposed to fumesWork on and around high structuresExposed to marked changes in temperature
