Drafting Technician

Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Drafting Technician to join our dynamic design team. In this role, you will be instrumental in translating conceptual ideas into precise technical drawings and models that support project development from initial schematics to construction documentation. Your expertise in CAD software and 3D modeling tools will ensure that all designs meet building code standards, client specifications, and project deadlines. Responsibilities Develop detailed construction drawings, schematics, and technical documentation using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Advance Steel. Create accurate 3D models and visualizations utilizing SketchUp, Rhino 3D (Rhinoceros 3D), Grasshopper 3D, and 3ds Max to enhance project presentations and design development. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to interpret design concepts into precise drafting outputs aligned with building codes and industry standards. Assist in the preparation of construction detail documentation, ensuring clarity and compliance for on-site implementation. Support building information modeling (BIM) processes by integrating data-rich models for efficient project coordination. Review schematic diagrams and system designs for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to client requirements. Maintain organized digital files of drawings, models, revisions, and project documentation using Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF editing tools. Requirements Proven experience in drafting within architecture, engineering, or construction environments with a strong portfolio of CAD projects. Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, MicroStation, SolidWorks; familiarity with 3D modeling software such as Rhino 3D, Grasshopper 3D, SketchUp; experience with BIM tools is highly desirable. Knowledge of construction detail documentation processes and building code analysis to ensure compliance across projects. Skilled in creating schematics, system design layouts, mechanical design drawings, interior design plans or related technical graphics. Strong understanding of building information modeling (BIM) workflows and 3D CAD modeling techniques. Ability to interpret architectural/engineering sketches and translate them into precise digital drawings. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and presenting technical information clearly.
