Mechanical/Application Engineer - Harnessing
Role: Mechanical/Application Engineer specializing in harness design and development for aerospace, defense, and space applications.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop wire harnesses and cable assemblies, creating schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.Perform wire routing, define harness configurations, and ensure designs meet industry standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, AS9100, and MIL-STD.Conduct technical analysis including voltage drop, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal assessments.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure design, manufacturing, and quality requirements are met.Support manufacturing by resolving production issues, providing DFM input, and assisting with first article inspections.Generate technical documentation, BOMs, and maintain compliance with industry standards.Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and testing activities to enhance product reliability.Qualifications & SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.3+ years of experience in harness design for aerospace, defense, or space sectors.Proficiency in schematic design tools like AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.Strong understanding of electrical wiring, harness standards, and environmental constraints.Experience with harness testing, validation, and troubleshooting.Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Preferred SkillsExperience with MES/ERP/MRP systems, RF cables, fiber optics, and high-speed data transmission.Hands-on assembly, crimping, and soldering experience.Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
