DescriptionDunbarton Corporation is seeking a Tool & Die Technician to join our team who is responsible for building, repairing, and troubleshooting production dies and tooling for Dunbarton products by interpreting specifications, using CAD design and blueprint tools, and setting up and operating machine tools. They ensure machines are properly adjusted and maintained and inspect finished parts to confirm quality and readiness for the next production stage.Essential Job FunctionsInterpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to design, build, and modify tooling, dies, and fixturesSelect appropriate materials, metals, and alloys based on strength, heat tolerance, and application requirementsProgram, set up, and operate CNC and conventional machining equipment to manufacture tooling to precise tolerancesVerify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of tooling and components using precision measuring instrumentsAssemble, fit, adjust, and troubleshoot dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to ensure proper function and qualityDiagnose tooling, die, and machine issues; implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and defectsUse CAD software to create tooling designs and translate them into production-ready blueprints and documentationInspect finished tooling and components for defects, surface finish, contour accuracy, and conformance to specificationsPerform preventive and predictive maintenance on tooling and related equipment; support TPM initiativesEnsure tooling and machining activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including LOTO and 6SSupport continuous improvement initiatives (LEAN, Kaizen, Six Sigma) by identifying and implementing efficiency projectsCollaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to support process improvements and new product launchesTrain and mentor technicians and operators on tooling use, setup, maintenance, and best practicesUtilize ERP systems to manage tooling data, inventory, work orders, and documentation accuratelyAdheres to work schedule and attendance requirements, including nights and weekendsPerform other job-related duties consistent with the scope and level of the positionKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of tool and die design, construction, repair, and modification from metal fabrication processesKnowledge of engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, specifications, and geometric tolerancingKnowledge of CNC and conventional machining processes, tooling, and metalworking equipmentKnowledge of metals and alloys, including material properties, hardness, and heat tolerancesSkill in interpreting and applying engineering drawings and specifications to tooling and die fabricationSkill in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC and conventional machine toolsSkill in using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerancesSkill in assembling, fitting, adjusting, and repairing dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and toolingSkill in using CAD software to create tooling designs and production-ready documentationAbility to analyze specifications and visualize tooling designs and finished componentsAbility to ensure tooling and products meet quality, safety, and production requirementsAbility to work collaboratively across engineering, maintenance, and production teamsAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingAbility to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with coworkers and customersAbility to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concernsRequirementsTwo (2) or more years of professional experience in tool and die manufacturing and maintenanceTwo (2) or more years of professional experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environmentNote: At the discretion of the hiring manager and/or the Human Resources Manager an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
