Our major footwear client is seeking a Lead Technical Designer to join their team for 6 months. The Lead Technical Designer owns fit, construction, and technical execution from concept through commercialization and production for assigned apparel styles, with a strong focus on outerwear. This role ensures on time delivery aligned to product specifications, performance, sustainability, and profitability goals. Acting as a technical authority, the Lead Technical Designer drives fit and construction standards, supports cross functional partners, and serves as a technical resource across the product creation process.The BasicsDuration: 6 month assignmentHours per week: Full time, approximately 40 hours per weekLocation requirements: Onsite in Beverton, OR. Can work remotely on Fridays.Top Three Required Qualifications8+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry, including end to end product development and commercializationStrong pattern making experience with deep expertise in outerwear construction and fitProficiency using Adobe Illustrator, CAD pattern design software such as Optitex, and 3D software such as Clo or BrowzwearOther QualificationsAssociate or Bachelor degree in apparel design, textile science, or a related field, or equivalent professional product creation experienceExpertise in writing detailed product specifications, construction standards, and technical documentationStrong problem solving, organization, and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to interpret design intent, propose alternative solutions, and improve manufacturability with factory partnersAbility to manage multiple projects and meet critical development milestonesProficiency with MS Office toolsFlexible, self starter mindset with the ability to work cross functionallyAbility to travel up to 10 percent, including domestic and international travel, if requiredKey ResponsibilitiesOwn fit, construction, and technical execution for assigned styles from initial concept through productionCreate, maintain, and revise tech packs, product specifications, and prototype documentationLead and execute fit and construction standards to ensure consistency across product or team scopeTrack and facilitate prototyping, identifying and resolving construction and manufacturing challengesCollaborate with design, product management, materials, manufacturing partners, and product creation teams to meet product and fit goalsMonitor product testing progress and communicate risks, challenges, and solutions to ensure product integrityApply market trends, consumer insights, and new technologies to inform technical decisionsAct as a technical resource and mentor, supporting initiatives through positive influence and leadershipIn this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data.
