JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all products meet quality standards and specifications before they are shipped to customers. This role involves conducting inspections, testing, and documentation in compliance with ISO 9000, AS9100, AIG AQPQ, and APQP Wind standards. The Quality Inspector will work closely with the production team to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring the highest level of product integrity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspection and Testing:
· Conduct inspections of raw materials before production use, as well as in-process components, and finished products using precision measuring instruments and techniques.
· Perform functional and dimensional testing to ensure products meet all specifications and quality standards.
· Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) to verify that the initial sample of a production run meets all specified requirements before releasing to full production.
Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and quality assurance activities.
· Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports and non-conformance reports.
· Document and maintain First Article Inspection reports as part of the quality management system.
· Prepare Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation to ensure that the manufacturing process meets the customer's engineering design and specification requirements.
· Utilize computerized quality, production and inventory reporting systems to ensure accurate and timely documentation of results.
· Manage document control to ensure that all quality documents are properly maintained and easily accessible.
· Prepare and issue Certificates of Acceptance, Certificates of Compliance, and 3.1 Certificates as required.
Compliance and Standards:
· Ensure compliance with ISO 9000, AS9100, AIG AQPQ, and APQP Wind standards in all quality inspection processes.
· Prepare and maintain compliance documentation as required by regulatory standards.
· Ensure adherence to company core values and procedures in all quality-related activities.
· Stay updated on industry standards and best practices to ensure continuous improvement in quality inspection procedures.
Problem Identification and Resolution:
· Identify and report quality issues and non-conformances to the Quality Manager.
· Collaborate with the production team to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence of quality issues.
Continuous Improvement:
· Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
· Recommend and implement improvements to the quality inspection process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
· Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to improve process efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
Training and Development:
· Assist in training production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and proper documentation practices.
· Stay informed about new tools, technologies, and best practices in quality inspection.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality inspection within the industrial, automotive, or aerospace industry.
· Certifications from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) such as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), or other relevant certifications preferred.
· An understanding of ISO 9000, AQPQ required.
· Proficient in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) and testing equipment.
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
· Experience with computerized inspection reporting systems and PPAP preparation.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve quality issues.
· Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
This position requires working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, and machinery.
Physical Requirements:
Sit [50%}, Stand [50%], Lift [up to 25lbs], Walk, Bend, Stoop, Reach, Push & Pull, as well as Finger/Hand dexterity.
