Salary: $80000.00 to $95000.00 yearlyDescriptionJob Title: Senior Accountant (Investments)Are you looking for a challenging and exciting opportunity in investment management? Our client, a well-regarded and established investment management firm located in the Twin Cities, is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for a direct hire role.In this role, you will be responsible for daily accounting and reconciliation of investment and derivative portfolio transactions. Your duties will include data analysis, problem resolution, preparation of various reports based on GAAP, statutory and management basis, and the implementation of accounting practices.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting for investment and derivative processes in accordance with GAAP, statutory, internal and external policies.Preparation of journal entries and the resolution of complex accounting transactions.Report preparation for statutory/regulatory filings.Performing reconciliations and clearing of outstanding variances.Developing process improvements while minimizing financial risks.Required QualificationsA bachelor’s degree or equivalentAt least 3 years of professional accounting experienceProficiency in General Ledger and spreadsheetsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesPreferred QualificationsA degree in Accounting or FinanceUnderstanding of investment and derivative instrumentsAdvanced Excel skills and some Access database knowledgeA detailed understanding of the end-to-end process flows, systems, controls and impacts across products and business linesThe ideal candidate should be a dedicated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. (Financial Services Industry experience preferred) Demonstrated ability in Balance Sheet Reconciliation, ensuring all financial statements are accurate and up to date. Solid understanding of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) to maintain compliance in financial reporting. Experience in Month End Close procedures, ensuring all financial data is recorded and reported accurately. Skilled in Financial Reporting and knowledgeable in Financial Reporting Standards to ensure accurate, compliant and timely reports. Ability to create and record Journal Entries for financial transactions. Experience in implementing Process Improvement Initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
