Area Manager, Recycling Operations
Job TitleThis role will sit in either Phoenix, AZ or Denver, COJob SummaryManages the productivity, financial and overall performance of multiple recycling operating units. Ensures Operating Units meet and/or exceed annual objectives and successfully implement organizational initiatives.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists in the development and implementation of the Area's recycling operating plans, consistent with the accomplishment of long-range established objectives which will enhance effectiveness and delineate responsibilities and authorityReviews and evaluates the area recycling operations performance on a continuing basis and establishes proper measures of performanceCounsels managers as to the execution of programs, processes or initiatives, and when necessary, provides direction for modification in work plans or implementation of contingency plans.Assists in the development of operating unit budget in a timely manner, forecasting financial and human resource needs for future time periods.Assists managers in budget optimization; provides budget compliance support.Oversees human resource needs of the department, including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisionsEnsures recycling operations have the necessary resources required to operate the plants in the safest, most efficient and effective manner possibleFacilitates regularly scheduled Profit and Loss (P&L) reviews, and executes prescribed action plans or programs to continuously improve equipment/facility utilization, equipment maintenance, labor and material costsConducts regular cost of goods sold (COGS) reviews to ensure the plants maintain or improve their gross margin spread as COGS fluctuateImplements and maintains programs to improve safety, productivity, and profitability of the Area; Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)/Department of Transportation (DOT) and other Federal, State, and local regulations. Conducts regular site safety reviews with plant managers/supervisorsVisits sites periodically to monitor and evaluate site performance and conditions and engage with the site teamPartners with commodity sales team to ensure we are meeting mill standards and marketing materials to demand the highest price possiblePartners with SMB, PSS and 3rd party sales to review RFP's, bid and other growth opportunitiesFacilitates and coordinates capital planning for the area recycling business. Engages with and partners with engineering when neededParticipates in pertinent industry associations. Monitoring regulatory and political changes that may impact the recycling business in our areaQualificationsA. Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree (accredited) in Industrial Engineering or similar area of study or in lieu of degree,High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experienceB.
