Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Mesa, Arizona in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role will support core accounting operations by overseeing financial close activities, maintaining accurate ledger records, and ensuring account balances are properly reconciled. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage daily and monthly financial processes with consistency and accuracy.Responsibilities:- Lead monthly close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and helping ensure timely completion of all required accounting tasks.- Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation to maintain accurate and complete financial records.- Manage general ledger activity by reviewing transactions, resolving discrepancies, and preserving the integrity of account classifications.- Perform detailed account reconciliations on a recurring basis to verify balances and investigate variances.- Complete bank reconciliations by comparing cash activity to bank statements and addressing outstanding items promptly.- Support financial reporting needs by organizing accounting data and assisting with the preparation of internal reports.- Partner with internal stakeholders to clarify accounting issues, improve accuracy, and maintain compliance with established procedures. Requirements - Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting role with responsibility for core month-end processes.- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and balance sheet reconciliations.- Hands-on experience completing bank reconciliations and researching account discrepancies.- Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and organization.- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
