The candidate will be part of our Product Development team to support automotive application co-engineering projects using laser welded blanks. The Co-Op will have an opportunity to develop and master their skills in design for manufacturing, optimization for weight, cost, and performance using CAD and CAE tools. This position will be based in Detroit, Michigan. AMTB is part of ArcelorMittal Steel, the largest steel company in the world. We are a large supplier of laser welded blanks in North America and global company.Duties/Responsibilities IncludeOpportunity to get on the job experience to do FEA and structural and metal forming analysisHelp the quote generation process with material utilization studies, outside quote inputsHands on experience with lab analysis of laser welded samples for engineering studiesHelp develop and assist in market development databaseLimited travel as needed in support of aboveHelp with marketing activities like seminars, workshops, and exhibits at various eventsHelp with presentation materials generation, research technical papers and in support of product development teamSkill SetsBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Metallurgy or equivalent (or in lieu of degree, enrolled in college degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field)Proficient in MS OfficeKnowledge of mechanical engineering basics - Machine design, strength of materialsBasic working knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent is a mustGood verbal and written communication skillsThe ideal person will be a self-starter, go getter, innovative, motivated and hard-working individualAbility to travel to support job functionKnowledge of FEA is a plusFulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the HSE Management Standards, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks is an Equal Employment Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
