Through our mobile apps, our community of qualified nurses provide much-needed staff for short-staffed facilities.About this roleESHYFT is seeking a high-performing Senior Staff Accountant to support the continued build-out and professionalization of the accounting function in a fast-growing healthcare technology, staffing, and marketplace environment.This is a hands-on accounting role for a strong all-around accountant who can execute core accounting responsibilities at a high level while also bringing analytical horsepower, curiosity, urgency, and problem-solving ability. The right candidate will be comfortable working in a founder-led, scaling company where systems, processes, and reporting are continuing to mature.This role will work closely with the CFO and Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller and will serve as a critical execution engine for month-end close, account reconciliations, operational accounting support, financial reporting analysis, ad hoc analysis, and financial data integrity across a multi-entity environment.We are looking for someone who is technically strong, highly organized, detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, and comfortable operating with a high level of accountability and ownership. The ideal candidate is not just a processor — they investigate issues, identify inconsistencies, reconcile complex accounts, work effectively with large data sets, explain findings clearly, and help improve the quality and reliability of the accounting function.This position is designed for a high-potential accountant who wants to be a key contributor in building a scalable finance function.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting requiredCPA or CPA-track preferred5+ years of progressive accounting experiencePublic accounting experience preferred, but not requiredExperience in SaaS, healthcare staffing, marketplace, high-growth, startup, founder-led, or multi-entity environments strongly preferredStrong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principlesAdvanced or power-user level Excel skills required, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, large data set analysis, and multi-source reconciliationsExperience with Sage Intacct or another mid-market ERP system preferredFamiliarity with subscription billing platforms and workflows such as Zuora, Chargebee, or similar SaaS billing systems preferredStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities, shifting deadlines, and ad hoc requests in a fast-paced environmentCritical Success Factors Strong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent reconciliation and analytical capabilitiesHigh level of accountability, ownership, urgency, and follow-throughAbility to identify issues, investigate root causes, and solve problems proactivelyComfortable working with large volumes of financial and operational dataStrong documentation and workpaper disciplineAbility to explain findings clearly and communicate issues effectivelyAbility to operate effectively in a scaling environment with evolving systems and processesResourceful, adaptable, and comfortable rolling up sleevesStrong cross-functional communication skillsPositive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-oriented mindsetResponsibilities Month-End Close & General Accounting Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedulesSupport month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesReconcile balance sheet accounts including cash, payroll, accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, AR-related accounts, AP-related accounts, fixed assets, and intercompany balancesInvestigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies, unsupported balances, and accounting inconsistenciesAssist with maintaining general ledger accuracy across multiple entitiesSupport audit, tax, lender reporting, and other financial documentation requestsMaintain organized, audit-ready workpapers and supporting documentationFinancial Reporting, Commentary & Analysis Support preparation of monthly financial reporting packages and supporting schedulesPerform account fluctuation reviews, variance analysis, and financial trend analysisAnalyze financial and operational data to identify anomalies, inconsistencies, and reporting gapsDraft preliminary variance explanations and commentary for review by the Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller and CFOHelp improve reporting accuracy, financial visibility, and documentation across systems and processesSupport ad hoc financial analysis, special projects, and management reporting requestsOperational Accounting Support Partner with Billing, Payroll, AR, AP, and Operations teams to support accurate financial reportingAssist with payroll accounting, billing reconciliations, cash application review, revenue tracking, and expense classificationSupport SaaS and subscription revenue accounting workflows, including deferred revenue, usage-based billing support, and revenue recognition processesHelp identify breakdowns between operational systems and accounting recordsAssist with ERP cleanup, reporting standardization, and accounting process improvementsFlex across accounting priorities as needed in a fast-paced, evolving environmentReconciliations, Data & Process Improvement Perform detailed transaction-level analysis across large financial and operational data setsUse advanced Excel skills to organize, analyze, reconcile, and validate data from multiple sourcesWork with system exports, pivot tables, lookups, and large data files to support reconciliations and reportingAssist with cleanup of historical accounting issues and unsupported balancesIdentify process gaps and escalate issues proactively with recommended solutionsDrive assigned workstreams through resolution with strong follow-through and accountabilityHelp improve accounting processes, controls, templates, and documentation as the function scalesSalary Range$85-100k commensurate with experienceBenefits (for US-based W2 employees)Weekly PayPaid HolidaysPaid Time OffHealth InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceLife InsuranceHRA and FSA Accounts401k with 10% Employer Match (Match is 10% of the employee’s contribution in the calendar year)
