Our staff benefit from structured mentorship, weekly professional development, and a collaborative school culture.POSITION SUMMARYThe Secondary Teacher delivers high school-level instruction in a content area, preparing students for academic achievement, career readiness, and postsecondary success.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree requiredValid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate secondary subject-area endorsement, or eligibility for certification through the Michigan State Board of EducationCandidates who do not yet hold a Michigan teaching certificate may qualify through enrollment in GEE's Career Advancement Program (CAP), which provides a supported pathway to Michigan certification. CAP eligibility is determined at the time of application.Satisfactory criminal background checkCORE RESPONSIBILITIESTeach rigorous, standards-aligned courses in the assigned subject areaUse assessment data to inform instruction and track student progress toward graduation requirementsDifferentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs across the classroomBuild strong academic relationships with students and maintain a structured learning environmentCollaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular planning and vertical alignmentCommunicate regularly with students, families, and counselors on progress and next stepsEngage in professional development and continuous improvement of instructional practicePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for extended periods.
