Assistant Controller
We are partnering with a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) to identify an Assistant Controller who will play a key leadership role within the corporate accounting and financial reporting function. This position offers significant visibility to senior leadership and the opportunity to help drive the continued growth of a well-capitalized, acquisitive real estate platform.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in public accounting and public company reporting, along with the desire to take on increasing responsibility within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities Assist in the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and related disclosures
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards
Coordinate with external auditors and other third-party advisors
Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and internal controls
Partner with finance, operations, tax, and executive leadership on various strategic initiatives
Support acquisition accounting and integration activities as the company continues to grow
Mentor and develop members of the accounting team
Qualifications CPA required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Big Four or large public accounting experience strongly preferred
Public company reporting experience required
Real estate, REIT, or related industry experience preferred
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting systems
