With more than three decades of experience, Tulsa CARES continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those it serves.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role for an Internal Billing Specialist located in Tulsa, OK. The Internal Billing Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the clinic’s internal billing processes to ensure timely, accurate claims submission and payment posting. This role works closely with clinical and administrative staff to support an efficient revenue cycle and ensure compliance with payer requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing, payer rules (Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial), and a commitment to supporting the CARES Health mission to provide compassionate, accessible care.General ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and submit claims to payers accurately and in a timely manner.Review and correct claim rejections and denials; submit appeals as needed.Post payments and adjustments, reconciling against payer remittances.Maintain current knowledge of insurance billing requirements, coding updates, and compliance regulations.Track accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims.Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding of services.Review and process sliding fee program applications; verify income documentation, determine patient eligibility and discount level, and ensure accurate updates to patient accounts.Assist with administrative coordination, reporting, and documentation related to the clinic’s 340B Drug Pricing Program, including communication with contract pharmacies and program administrators as needed.Prepare monthly revenue cycle reports for leadership review.Requirements & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree preferred.Minimum 1 year of medical billing experience (Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payers) and/or outpatient claims experience.Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding, and payer-specific requirements.Strong understanding of revenue cycle processes and denial management.Proficiency with EHR/PM systems (eClinicalWorks experience preferred).Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.Preferred:Familiarity with FQHC, Ryan White, or community health center billing.Understanding of HRSA 340B compliance requirements and experience working with 340B programs in a healthcare setting.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
