Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Electronics Technician to support the development of advanced electro-optical products. This is a hands-on role with the primary responsibilities focused on high-quality assembly, integration, and testing of electronic and electro-optic subsystems. As proficiency and familiarity with our products grows, successful team members will have opportunities to take on increasing responsibility, including leading subsystem builds, developing assembly processes, supporting system integration and troubleshooting, and contributing to larger prototype and instrument builds. Though growing, BP is now a small organization, so every team member has a meaningful impact on the success of our projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes pride in producing high-quality work, and enjoys learning new skills. Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to optical alignment or optical laboratory work without significant electronics assembly experience are unlikely to be a good fit. Responsibilities: · Perform prototype assembly & testing of electronics and electro-optical subsystems. · Assist electronics/electrical, optical and mechanical engineers in the development, assembly, disassembly, testing, characterization, and installation of electronic, optical, mechanical and assemblies. · Design and fabricate specialized or modified electrical and electro-optic components. · Interact with responsible engineers and teams to communicate results. · Assist engineers in process development, execute new processes to develop prototype products, document prototype process development. · Setup and operation of laboratory equipment such as electrical test equipment. · Follow ESD, cleanliness, and quality standards during assembly. · Other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications: · Associate degree in Electronics Technology, electrical engineering, technical certification, military electronics training, or equivalent practical experience. · 5+ years of hands-on electronics assembly experience. · Experience with NASA-STD-8739 or equivalent quality/process standards. · Demonstrated experience assembling prototype electronic hardware from electrical schematics and engineering drawings. · Proficient in interpreting and generating electronic/electrical schematics, generating BOMs, ordering and kitting projects. · Skilled in the use of hand tools, small electrical tools, soldering, and basic machine tools. · Skilled in assembly of electronic and mechanical assemblies, including ESD and cleanroom protocols. · Proficient with the assembly of small electronic components – form factor 0402, etc. · Knowledge of fundamental electronics circuits and schematics, and basic electronic components. · Skilled in the use of equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supply systems, etc. · Ability and willingness to work with and be a member of a diverse team of people. · Skilled in the use of computers and application software, (e.g., Microsoft Excel and Word). · Self-starter, willing learner, eager to gain and share new knowledge, able to work with minimal supervision, and be a team player. Other Requirements: US citizenship is required Some travel may be required. Desired: · Programming experience such as Python and/or LabView. · Experience designing with CAD such as Solidworks.
