This role focuses on early intervention, foundational academic skills, and the social-emotional transitions necessary for a successful entry into the elementary school environment. LBS1 Endorsement Required.Job Summary: The position of First Grade Special Education Teacher is established for the purpose of providing direct educational services and support to our youngest learners; ensuring progress toward IEP goals through play-based and structured learning; and adhering to all state and federal legal requirements.Key Responsibilities:IEP Development & Management: Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEP) in accordance with state and federal regulations; manage caseloads by scheduling and conducting Annual Reviews.Early Literacy & Numeracy: Plan and implement modified lessons in foundational reading (phonemic awareness) and early math skills consistent with the District's educational philosophy.Behavioral Support: Plan and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and employ age-appropriate strategies for eliciting desired behaviors and self-regulation.Progress Monitoring: Measure progress toward IEP goals at regular intervals using district-approved tools and maintain comprehensive, accurate records.Collaboration: Communicate regularly with parents, general education teachers, related service personnel (OT/PT/Speech), and the Director of Special Populations.Classroom Leadership: Monitor and oversee the services provided by paraprofessionals or support personnel assigned to your classroom or students.Inclusion Facilitation: Facilitate the provision of modifications, accommodations, and supplementary aids to ensure students can participate in the general education setting whenever possible.Professionalism: Exhibit a high level of ethics, punctuality, and confidentiality regarding student information within the school and community.Qualifications:LBS1 Illinois Professional Educator LicenseAbility to work in a dynamic school environmentPrevious experience teaching Special Education students preferredPrevious experience with research-based curricula and intervention preferredExcellent communication skills and the ability to work in a high-energy, collaborative environment.Previous experience with research-based interventions and progress monitoring software.Evaluation: Annually by the District Principal or Associate PrincipalWork Year: 180 contractual days (see Collective Bargaining Agreement)Salary: Per Collective Bargaining AgreementApplication Procedure: Online applications only until position is filled
