Identifies cultural considerations, gender identity and preferred language for patients and family Demonstrates advance practice in assessments, and all other documentation timely and in compliance with requirements (as appropriate to scope) Assesses environment and patient’s safety status and reports/responds to actual and potential safety issues or changes in the patient's condition Identifies risk factors, screening criteria and interventions for patients with special precautions (e.g., suicide, homicide, falls, elopement) Recognizes and acts upon unexpected assessment findings Leads in ensuring a safe structured milieu with evidence based treatment modalities/resources Maintains active and timely communication with patients, families, multidisciplinary team and continuum of care providers Provides education and guidance regarding state commitment processes, abuse reporting requirements, duty to warn and guardianship processes. Assesses, collaborates, coordinates and provides guidance on complex discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with the multidisciplinary team. Develops and maintains a community resource guide including access to public assistance/alternatives. Facilitates and participates in Community Education, Activities and Support Groups (as appropriate to scope) Demonstrates appropriate application of age/developmental stage specific standards, policies and procedures, and guidelines in assessing and treating patients to ensure patient safety. Maintains professionalism and uses good communication skills in interacting with peers, staff, patients, families and in resolving conflicts. Demonstrates understanding of and ability to maintain clear professional boundaries with peers, patients and families. Serves as an educational resource to patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, payer representatives, and other parties as appropriate regarding behavioral services Reviews, coaches and assists with training of new staff/interns as assigned within approved practice and program guidelines.
