College or vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours for the required experience provided such education includes three courses in the physical and/or natural sciences. (Note: If education is being used to qualify for this position, you must provide a copy of an official or unofficial transcript as supporting documentation showing the required coursework.) JOB DUTIES: This position is primarily responsible for greenhouse duties including but not limited to: Watering, trimming trees, planting seed, grafting, removing dead trees and greenhouse trash, and general greenhouse sanitation. Lab work may include making media, tissue culture, and sample preparation. Performs related duties as required or assigned by management. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Prior knowledge of plant-insect interaction. Knowledge of basic laboratory and greenhouse safety procedures. Skill in written and verbal communication. Task oriented and time management skills. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and bend repetitiously. Ability to work independently. Ability to walk on uneven ground and in inclement weather. Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and humid environments. Ability to interact with the public and team members in a professional and courteous manner.
