Overview In this role, you will act as a senior systems engineer embedded with an IC sponsor to drive enterprise modernization and mission engineering. You’ll shape cloud architectures, assess software integration, and translate sponsor priorities into concrete technical strategies and prototypes. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to reduce fragmentation and deliver measurable, enterprise-wide outcomes. This is a high-impact, on-site role that supports national security missions. Compensation / Benefitscompetitive benefitsexceptional professional development opportunitiesculture of innovationcollaboration and adaptabilitytechnical excellencepeople in partnership ResponsibilitiesServe as lead systems engineer and technical advisor aligning sponsor priorities with cloud modernization and software-enabled capability developmentCollaborate with IC sponsors, developers, architects, cybersecurity teams, and users to execute mission engineering, cloud architecture, and capability assessmentDevelop and assess mission, solution, and cloud architectures, APIs, interfaces, and system-of-systems solutionsEvaluate gaps, tradeoffs, risks, scalability, security, and technical debt to inform government decisionsApply cloud-native design, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, DevSecOps, AI/ML, data analytics, and automated testing in architecture development and prototypingConduct qualitative and quantitative evaluations of cloud services, architectures, and investment optionsLead experiments, rapid prototyping, and risk-reduction activities to address technical uncertaintiesSupport requirements management, interface/API management, integration planning, software delivery, and testingProduce strategic products (engineering papers, assessments, implementation plans, executive briefings) and coordinate with stakeholdersAdvise senior leaders on implementation plans, enterprise strategy, and integration challenges Key requirements8+ years with a Bachelor’s degree; 6 years with a Master’s; 3 years with a PhD; or equivalentBachelor’s in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldExperience leading technical tasks or small multidisciplinary teamsExpertise in systems/solution architecture, cloud engineering, software development, mission engineering, or relatedAbility to assess mission effectiveness, cost-performance tradeoffs, cloud/software architecture alternatives, and riskExperience collaborating with operational users, government stakeholders, developers, cloud engineers, cybersecurity teams, and industryHands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform and with developing/integrating software using modern languages, APIs, automation, or infrastructure-as-codeStrong understanding of Intelligence Community missions, authorities, policy processes, and interagency coordinationAbility to operate in a complex, classified, matrixed, fast-paced sponsor environmentExceptional written and verbal communication, including briefing senior executives or national decision makersAbility to synthesize complex issues and translate findings into actionable recommendationsActive Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph clearance; US citizen requiredOn-site requirement: 5 days a weekStrong interpersonal skillsTrust-building with senior sponsorsDiscretion and sound judgmentCloud engineering and cloud-native architecturesInfrastructure as Code (IaC)CI/CD and DevSecOps
