Lead API Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.This is a senior-level role focused on backend engineering for advanced AI and data systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for building scalable, real-time API layers and backend services that expose AI and machine learning models for real-time enterprise consumption. This position works closely with data science teams to productionize models and AI capabilities.Responsibilities:Design and build scalable, real-time RESTful APIs to expose machine learning models and AI servicesDevelop backend services that integrate AI/ML models into enterprise systemsCreate well-defined API contracts that enable downstream business applications to consume model outputsBuild integration layers connecting models, data services, and enterprise platformsWork closely with data scientists and ML engineers to productionize modelsDevelop scalable backend services using Python or Go (preferred over Java)Manage service orchestration, error handling, and reliability patternsTroubleshoot and resolve complex issues across APIs, integrations, and model-serving layersRequirements:7+ years of software engineering experience with a lead-level mindsetStrong backend development experience in Golang or Python (preferred over Java)Experience building production-grade REST APIs and microservicesStrong experience with containerized environments such as Kubernetes or OpenShiftStrong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)Experience with CI/CD and GitData experience with SQL (Postgres, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB, BigQuery, Redis)Solid understanding of distributed systems, service integrations, and API designAbility to work in highly complex, dependency-driven environmentsPay range: $53.28 - $61.28 per hourOnly candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!Ranked a Top Staffing Firm in the U.S. by Staffing Industry Analysts for six consecutive years, Genesis10 puts thousands of consultants and employees to work across the United States every year in contract, contract-for-hire, and permanent placement roles.
