Position Overview
The System Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and overall reliability of the Credit Union's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, telecommunications systems, building security platforms, and core banking interfaces. This role supports the Director of Information Systems & Business Development by installing and supporting hardware and software systems, implementing cybersecurity controls, maintaining system documentation, leading IT projects, disaster recovery planning, and participating in after-hours on-call and End-of-Day monitoring rotations to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant technology operations across all branches.
Primary Responsibilities
Infrastructure Administration
Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot servers, workstations, hypervisors, operating systems, and business applications.
Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, file/print services, and related infrastructure components.
Manage network systems including switches, routers, firewalls (FortiGate), VPNs, WiFi networks, and routing configurations.
Maintain system documentation, network topology diagrams, configuration records, and asset inventories.
Security & Compliance
Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures, including access control, firewall policies, antivirus/EDR tools, patching, and system hardening.
Administer building security systems such as access control, surveillance platforms, and alarm systems.
Maintain confidentiality of member information, internal systems, and business operations in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
Core Banking & Application Support
Administer Fiserv DNA and supporting interfaces used for daily operations.
Support document storage and retention platforms, andrelated systems.
Provide application-level support to staff and coordinate upgrades, patches, and testing with vendors.
Network, Telecom & Branch Support
Support telecommunications systems, including Mitel VoIP administration and internal communication tools.
Work with vendors to coordinate network, phone, system, and building security maintenance and upgrades.
Provide on-site and remote technical support for branch hardware, workstations, printers, and connectivity.
Disaster Recovery & Backup Operations
Perform and verify system and network backups using backup software (e.g., Veeam, Windows Backup, or similar).
Assist with disaster recovery testing, documentation, replication, configuration updates, and recovery activities.
Projects & Planning
Lead assigned technology projects through planning, implementation, documentation, and post-deployment support.
Assist in evaluating new technologies, researching solutions, and recommending improvements for servers, networking, cybersecurity, and banking systems.
Support expansion, remodels, and new branch technology deployments.
Support, Training & On-Call Rotation
Provide end-user training on new systems, applications, and procedures.
Maintain cooperative, professional relationships with staff, management, and vendors.
Participate in the End-of-Day monitoring rotation, after-hours on-call schedule, and emergency response.
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for business operations.
General
Demonstrate compliance with required department training
Perform related and unrelated duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
Experience in network implementation, troubleshooting, and configuration (IPSec, VLANs, VPNs, DHCP, WiFi).
Hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Entra/Active Directory administration.
Basic understanding of scripting languages such as PowerShell.
Experience with Mitel VoIP systems.
Experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V).
Familiarity with backup Cove Backup solutions
Fiserv DNA or core banking experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a high school diploma with technology-related training or certifications
4+ years of experience in technical or systems administration role.
Banking or Credit Union related operations experience
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The role requires extended periods of sitting or standing at a desk in an open office environment. Frequent use of computers and telephones is necessary, with occasional lifting and carrying of equipment. Travel between branches may be required.
