Job Title: Controller / VP FinanceReports To: PresidentCompany Description:Child’s Play (“CP” or “Company”) is a leading playground equipment distributor and installer. CP provides playground and related equipment sales (including artificial turf, pavilions, shades, surfaces) as well as installation services to schools, parks, day cares, and churches across Texas. The Company was recently acquired by a private equity-focused family office with a priority in growing the business both organically and opportunistically through M&A. Job Summary:This role will be based in-office at the Company’s headquarters in Dallas, TX. This person will be responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the company, including the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and implementation of a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.Assist in the budgeting and financial planning processes.Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions.Coordinate banking relationships and compliance reporting.Coordinate audit activities and liaise with external auditors.Oversee tax preparation and filing in coordination with external advisors.Analyze financial data and provide strategic insights to senior management.Build and manage a job costing framework to provide management visibility into job level profitability, including as part of the job quoting processLead financial integration efforts for M&A activity, including aligning accounting policies, and consolidating financial systems. Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification required.5+ years of experience in financial management or senior accounting roles.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and business practices.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intact, etc).Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Strong leadership abilities and experience managing teams. Preferred Skills:ERP system implementation or upgrade experience.Strong personal motivation, a high level of initiative and should be personable, persuasive, responsive and results-oriented.Desire to work in a growth-oriented business environment with upward mobility opportunitiesAbility to take ownership of building out internal processes and thinking strategically as the company scales
