Location: Columbus, MS (Frequent Travel to Project Sites Required)Company: Gregory ConstructionJob Type: Full-TimeReports To: PresidentNow Hiring: QA/QC Leader – Heavy Civil ConstructionGregory Construction is seeking an experienced and strategic Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Leader to develop, implement, and lead our company-wide Quality Management System (QMS) across all heavy civil construction operations.This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring that every project meets or exceeds contract specifications, DOT standards, and Gregory Construction’s commitment to excellence. The QA/QC Leader partners closely with Operations, Safety, Survey, Equipment, and People teams to embed quality into every phase of the construction process—from preconstruction planning through project closeout.If you are passionate about building systems, driving accountability, reducing rework, and strengthening client confidence, we want to hear from you.Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Management System LeadershipDevelop, implement, and continuously improve the company-wide Quality Management System (QMS)Establish inspection protocols, documentation controls, and quality standardsStandardize Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and hold pointsImplement document control processes for submittals, RFIs, material certifications, and test resultsProject-Level Quality PlanningParticipate in preconstruction meetings and project startup planningReview specifications and identify high-risk scopesEnsure teams understand contract quality requirements before work beginsAssist in developing quality plans for grading, utilities, structures, concrete, asphalt, and specialty scopesField Quality OversightConduct routine and unannounced jobsite visitsEvaluate compliance with plans, specifications, and DOT requirementsReview testing procedures, workmanship, survey accuracy, and material installationSupport resolution of nonconforming workTesting & Materials ComplianceOversee third-party testing agencies and internal techniciansEnsure proper sampling, testing frequency, and documentationMonitor compaction reports, concrete breaks, density tests, asphalt testing, and material certificationsIdentify trends in test failures and implement corrective action plansAudits & Continuous ImprovementConduct internal quality auditsLead root cause analysis for recurring issuesTrack KPIs such as rework cost, punch lists, inspection failures, and warranty claimsPresent quality performance updates to executive leadershipTraining & Cultural IntegrationTrain Superintendents, Foremen, Surveyors, and Project Managers on quality processesIntegrate quality into onboarding and field development programsPromote a proactive “build it right the first time” cultureQualificationsRequired7–10+ years of experience in heavy civil constructionStrong knowledge of DOT specifications and contract documentsExperience managing quality control processes on civil infrastructure projects (earthwork, utilities, paving, structures)Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical submittalsStrong organizational, analytical, and documentation skillsExcellent communication and leadership abilityWillingness to travel regularly to project sitesPreferredBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fieldPrior experience as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or QC ManagerExperience building or leading a formal Quality Management SystemCertifications such as CQM, ACI, NICET, or DOT-specific credentialsExperience with digital quality tracking or document control systemsKey CompetenciesHigh attention to detail with strong field awarenessStrategic thinker with practical execution skillsLeadership presence and credibility with field teamsData-driven decision-makingStrong problem-solving and conflict resolution skillsCommitment to continuous improvementWork EnvironmentThis role requires frequent travel to active construction sites and includes exposure to outdoor environments, heavy equipment, uneven terrain, and varying weather conditions.
