THE POSITION We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join the State of Alabama’s Infrastructure and Cloud Services team. This role involves designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the State of Alabama’s network infrastructure. You will be responsible for creating scalable, maintainable, and highly available network architectures that align with business goals and service level agreements (SLAs).Compensation And BenefitsWe offer a premium base salary with compensation commensurate with experience. Configure and install network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and QoS. Perform regular network maintenance and system upgrades, including applying service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations. Monitor network performance to ensure system reliability and availability. Analyze system resource utilization, trends, and capacity planning. Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshoot complex issues. Adhere to configuration and change management policies to ensure successful implementation of network changes. Collaborate with the security team to select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures. Liaise with vendors and IT personnel to resolve technical problems. Additional Information 100% on-site with the Dept. of Labor in Montgomery, AL Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science; AND, 15+ years of experience: in network engineering, with Azure networking, with network monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools. with Aruba switches and access points; AND, In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS); AND, Solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP models PREFERRED: CCNP certification or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP certifications are highly valued) Experience with Fortinet routers, switches, and access points, is preferred.
