The Streets Division is responsible for the maintenance of over 287 miles of roadway, including: 100,000 lbs. of crack sealing annually, repairing an average of 2,500 potholes, more than 60,000 miles of plowing and deicing for snow and ice control annually, and more!
The Road and Bridge team is looking to hire a Streets Technician I who will receive training and development in the repair of potholes, crack-sealing, and other maintenance projects. This position will work under the direction of the Foreman and conduct unskilled to semi-skilled work in support of the Streets Division.

Patch potholes with asphalt hot mix and cold mix
Perform crack-seal and mastic operations
Grade dirt roads and road shoulders, repairs road shoulders
Parking lot seal coat installation
Inspect contractual work under the supervision of the foreman or Pavement Management Specialist that includes:
Crackseal
Asphalt Patching
Bridge and guardrail maintenance and repairs
Pavement preservation, repairs, and treatments.
Operates and performs preventive maintenance and routine repairs on equipment
Cleans and maintains shop building and grounds
Operates and performs snowplowing operations during inclement weather
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
Uses hand tools to complete maintenance work
Trained on construction and maintenance equipment used in the department
Acquires knowledge and practical experience in the field
Assist with all other maintenance activities as assigned
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent - required
Experience
None
Some experience in street maintenance (including road and bridge maintenance, sweeping and drainage, and/or traffic control) - preferred
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry, DMV check, and pre-placement physical and drug screen.
Certifications - required with 6 months of hire
Class B Commercial Driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsement
Flagger's Certification
Work involves on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed.
Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required
