Make a meaningful difference every day by supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter. In this contract position, you'll play a vital role in providing equal access to education for a student who is Deaf or hard of hearing, facilitating clear communication and academic achievement.Your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and keen understanding of students' unique educational needs will help foster a supportive and inclusive environment. You'll work closely with educators to interpret lessons, classroom discussions, and course materials, ensuring the student is engaged and empowered to succeed.What we're looking for:Current registration under the Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) and Transliteration Registration ActDemonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)Experience or awareness of supporting students who are Deaf or hard of hearing in educational settingsAbility to accurately interpret and transliterate spoken and written contentStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skillsCapacity to comprehend and execute both oral and written instructions What you'll do:Provide ASL interpretation for classroom instruction, group conversations, and varied learning activitiesSupport the student's full participation in both academic and extracurricular settingsCollaborate with teachers and staff to adapt communication strategies, ensuring accessibilityAssist in the facilitation of general coursework and class assignmentsFoster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
