HVAC Service Technician (On-Call) Considering applying for this job Do not delay, scroll down and make your application as soon as possible to avoid missing out.Location: Washington, DC & MarylandSchedule: On-Call | Service Window: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PMPosition OverviewWe are seeking experienced HVAC Service Technicians to provide on-call service support across a portfolio of commercial and multifamily residential properties in Washington, DC and Maryland. This role is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of HVAC systems, with occasional support for equipment replacements or new installations.The ideal candidate is adaptable, professional, and comfortable working in both commercial spaces and occupied apartment environments.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform scheduled and on-call preventive maintenance on HVAC systems in commercial buildings and apartment communitiesTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC issues including electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration failuresService a variety of equipment, including:Rooftop units (RTUs)Split systemsHeat pumpsFan coils, air handlers, and package unitsRespond promptly to service calls and emergencies during assigned on-call hoursPerform residential apartment HVAC service work, including troubleshooting no-heat/no-cool calls and comfort complaintsIdentify repair vs. replacement needs and clearly communicate findings and recommendationsAssist with HVAC unit replacements and new installations as neededMaintain accurate service documentation and communicate job status with managementFollow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, professional work environmentQualifications3–7 years of HVAC service experience, including commercial and/or multifamily residential systemsStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systemsExperience performing preventive maintenance programsAbility to work independently in occupied apartment units and active commercial environmentsWorking knowledge of HVAC controls and thermostats (BAS/BMS exposure a plus)Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manualsEPA Universal Certification (required)Valid driver's license and reliable transportationStrong customer-service skills and professional demeanor when interacting with residents and tenantsPreferred (Not Required)Experience servicing HVAC systems in multifamily apartment buildingsFamiliarity with fan coil units, split systems, and packaged residential equipmentOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationLocal DC or Maryland HVAC licensing, or ability to obtainExperience working in occupied spaces with resident-facing service expectationsPhysical & Work RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsComfortable working on rooftops, ladders, mechanical rooms, and inside apartment unitsAbility to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to stand, kneel, climb, and work for extended periodsRole HighlightsPredictable daytime on-call window (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)Mix of commercial and residential apartment workNo overnight on-call rotationsVariety of systems and properties keeps work engaging Company DescriptionMBB Affiliates is a full service property management firm headquartered in Washington, DC and servicing commercial and residential properties in the Metro DC area.
