Quality Engineer

Report all accidents and near misses in a timely manner.Maintain proper ergonomics at all times when performing assigned tasks.Participate in and support all lean, continuous improvement programs, initiatives, and activities.Maintain professionalism when representing the company.Perform other duties as assigned.Specific Job DutiesDevelop, implement, and maintain quality systems and procedures in compliance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.Lead and support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including Process FMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP submissions for new and modified products.Conduct root cause analysis on internal and external quality issues using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and other problem-solving methodologies. Drive implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions.Perform internal audits, process audits, and layered process audits (LPA) to ensure compliance with quality standards.Monitor and analyze key quality performance indicators (KPIs) such as scrap, rework, PPM, and customer complaints. Prepare reports and drive improvement actions.Support daily production by providing quality guidance to manufacturing teams, assisting with in-process inspections, and disposition of non-conforming materials.Work closely with Production, Process Engineering, and Maintenance teams to resolve quality issues on the floor related to laser cutting, urethane molding, waterjet, vibration welding, robotics, painting, and assembly processes.Manage supplier quality performance, including incoming material inspection, supplier audits, and corrective action follow-up.Support calibration and maintenance of quality measurement equipment and gages.Participate in customer and third-party audits and represent the company professionally during all external interactions.Train production associates and quality technicians on quality procedures, standards, and inspection methods.Continuously review and improve inspection methods, testing procedures, and quality documentation.Education RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience RequirementsMinimum 3–5 years of Quality Engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem solving.Experience with plastic molding, urethane, welding, robotics, and painting processes is highly preferred.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality software systems (e.g., Minitab, QMS platforms).Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to quality improvement.
