About MatchternMatchtern is a selective high school internship placement program. We train ambitious high schoolers and place them at venture-backed companies for real, remote internships that strengthen their college applications and give them professional experience years before their peers.About the RoleWe're hiring an Internship Program Manager to support our students throughout their internships. This is not a sales or training role. Our training team prepares students before placement. The founders they intern with provide direction on the actual work. Your role lives in between: making sure students stay on track, founders stay informed, and small issues get caught before they become big ones.If you've ever wished you could spend your time helping ambitious young people grow into real professionals, this is that job.What You'll DoRun weekly 1:1 check-ins with a portfolio of 10 to 15 students currently interning at venture-backed companiesReview student work for professional quality and clarity (decks, written deliverables, research outputs, light technical work) and provide specific, actionable feedback before submission to foundersCoach students through real workplace situations: how to ask good questions, how to respond to feedback, how to manage priorities, how to communicate professionallyRun brief biweekly syncs with founders to gather feedback on student performance and surface any concerns earlyDocument student wins, growth, and meaningful contributions to support their college application materialsEscalate quality, behavior, or fit concerns to Matchtern leadership when neededWho You Are2 or more years of professional experience in a business-adjacent role: operations, consulting, project management, marketing, edtech, agency work, journalism, finance, or similarStrong written communicator who can give clear, specific feedback on professional workConfident and present in conversations with both founders and high schoolersOrganized, proactive, and reliable. You don't need to be reminded to follow up.Genuinely interested in working with ambitious young people. This isn't a fallback gig for you.Bonus PointsPrior experience working with high schoolers in any professional capacity (teaching, college counseling, debate coaching, advanced tutoring)Experience at or working with an early-stage or venture-backed companyBackground in business analysis, content, marketing, operations, software, or designLogisticsFully remote, US-based5-10 hours per week to start, some hours might be outside of standard business hours depending on your timezoneContract role with strong potential to grow as Matchtern scales
