Systems/Controls EngineerEmployment Type: ContractLocation: Onsite / Seattle, WAAbout the RoleWe are looking for a Controls Engineer to support the design and deployment of advanced automated systems and robotics-enabled workcells at scale. This role focuses on building reliable, high-performance control systems that drive throughput, quality, and operational efficiency. Success in this role means delivering robust solutions while improving system performance, scalability, and deployment speed.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and deploy control systems for complex automated equipment and robotic workcellsProgram and configure PLCs and HMIs, integrating components such as drives, sensors, and scanning systemsLead system commissioning efforts, including debugging and troubleshooting of integrated hardware/software systemsImprove system performance by optimizing throughput, availability, and quality metricsDevelop and maintain technical documentation for internal teams as well as field commissioning and support teamsAnalyze system performance data and define metrics to evaluate and enhance machine effectivenessCollaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless system integration with upstream and downstream platformsRequired Qualifications5–7 years of experience developing industrial control systemsStrong PLC/HMI programming experience and integration of industrial components (drives, sensors, etc.)Proficiency in multiple IEC 61131-3 programming languagesHands-on experience troubleshooting complex automated or robotic systemsWorking knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, or similar)Experience with at least one higher-level programming language and modern software development practicesBachelor’s degree in Engineering or related fieldPreferred QualificationsExperience with languages such as C, C++, or JavaBackground in multi-axis motion control and coordinated motion systemsExposure to cloud or distributed system technologies (e.g., AWS or similar platforms)Experience supporting large-scale deployments across multiple locations
