We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years have expanded throughout the Midwest.Job SummaryThe State Safety Manager will oversee the health and safety of all employees for their respective state, including the hub and all branch locations.Hours and WagesExempt salary positionStarting wage: $83,000-$109,000 based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this roleDuties And ResponsibilitiesOversee the daily safety operations of the state and ensure all laws, regulations, and employment practices are being followed properlyMaintain a driver inventory databaseCollaborate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and stakeholdersInspect each facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risksDevelop and implement inspection policies and procedures, schedule routine inspectionsPrepare and present various safety related reports to upper managementPrepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant projectsMonitor compliance with safety proceduresDraft inspection reports to document inspection findingsEnsure that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when neededMaintain records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required Facilitate monthly leadership meetingsTravel is requiredPerform other required duties as assignedSkills And AbilitiesAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality Ability to demonstrate adaptability in a fast-paced changing work environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong leadership skillsAbility to evaluate and research training options and alternativesThorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company policies, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standardsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareBasic proficiency with computers and common office technologyEducation And ExperienceAt least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Health and Safety, or related field preferred5+ years of experience in health and safety preferredMust hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license or successfully complete company paid CDL training program within 90 days of employment Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 50-100 pounds at timesAbility to pass a DOT physical examAbility to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animalsBenefitsHealth Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) Plan, Quarterly Bonuses, and more.EEO and Affirmative Action StatementSpee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
