Database Administrator
Description - Hybrid in Desert Ridge, ArizonaCritical Focus AreasAdminister, maintain, and optimize enterprise database systems to ensure highavailability and performanceMonitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents in a timely mannerImplement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategiesEnsure data integrity, security, and compliance with enterprise standardsSupport capacity planning, performance tuning, and scalability initiativesCollaborate with engineering teams to support application deployments and databasechangesKey ResponsibilitiesManage and support database platforms (e.g., DB2 z/OS, Oracle, SQL Server,PostgreSQL, Netezza) across development, test, and production environmentsPerform database installation, configuration, patching, and upgradesMonitor database performance and proactively tune queries, indexes, and configurationsImplement and maintain backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions (e.g.,replication, clustering)Troubleshoot database-related incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implementpreventive measuresPartner with application and product teams to review database designs and ensure optimaldata structuresEnforce database security standards, including access controls, encryption, and auditingAutomate routine DBA tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell)Document database configurations, processes, and operational proceduresSupport data migrations, releases, and environment refreshesParticipate in on-call support rotations and incident responseEducation & ExperienceUp to 6 years of database administration experience in a professional environment and/orcomparable experience such as:Experience administering one or more database platforms (e.g., DB2 z/OS, Oracle, SQLServer, PostgreSQL, Netezza)Familiarity with database backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recoveryconceptsExperience with performance tuning and query optimizationExperience with scripting/automation (Shell, Python, PowerShell, etc.)Familiarity with Agile or other rapid application development methodologiesUnderstanding of distributed systems and multi-tier architecturesBachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field required; advanceddegree preferredPreferred QualificationsExperience with database monitoring and observability toolsKnowledge of cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc.)Experience with data modeling and database design principlesFamiliarity with NoSQL databases and big data platformsHigh-Performing BehaviorsProactively identifies and resolves database performance and reliability issuesChallenges the status quo and drives continuous improvement in database operationsStays current with database technologies, tools, and industry trendsCommunicates clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholdersCollaborates effectively across teams to achieve shared objectivesDemonstrates ownership, accountability, and strong problem-solving skillsAdapts quickly to changing priorities and operational needsKnowledge / SkillsStrong understanding of database administration concepts (backup/recovery, performancetuning, security, and availability)Ability to analyze and resolve complex database issuesKnowledge of data structures, indexing strategies, and query optimizationUnderstanding of metadata management and database architectureExperience with database monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting toolsFamiliarity with infrastructure components (servers, storage, networking)Working knowledge of SDLC methodologies and operational best practicesStrong understanding of Service Now dataTechnology Core CompetenciesDatabase Administration & OperationsPerformance Tuning & OptimizationAutomation & ScriptingInfrastructure & Platform KnowledgeAgile PracticesTechnical Problem SolvingSkillsDatabase administrator, Sql, Sql server, Performance tuning, Database management, disaster recovery, monitoringTop Skills DetailsDatabase administrator,Sql,Sql server,Performance tuning,Database management,disaster recovery,monitoringAdditional Skills & QualificationsN/AExperience LevelIntermediate LevelJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, AZ.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
