License: Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD). Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association ONLY). Must-Have: - Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD) - BLS - Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician - Experience in a hospital with a minimum of 500 beds - Travel experience of 6 months - Two professional references from the last two assignments Responsibilities Inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, technical equipment, and surgical case carts. Selecting the method of packaging and sterilization in consultation with the Processing Manager as needed. Examining surgical instrumentation for cleanliness and proper assembly and function. Assembling instrument sets ensuring appropriate quantity and type based on established protocols. Documenting tray contents on count/supply sheets. Operating steam sterilizers according to established procedures. Checking time, pressure, and temperature gauges frequently to maintain proper levels. Loading and unloading sterilizers and placing items on shelves for distribution. Performing simple maintenance of sterilizers, such as cleaning drain baskets. Assuring sterility by preparing cultures, reviewing test packs, interpreting results, and completing documentation. Checking and adjusting medical equipment as per specific procedures to ensure it is operating according to specifications before issuing. Sending equipment that does not meet specifications to the appropriate area for repair. Decontaminating surgical instruments and equipment according to established procedures and preventing cross-contamination. Setting up decontamination equipment for operation and cleaning it upon shift completion. Handling infectious waste and linen according to established protocols. Receiving and storing supplies from vendors and checking stock against requisitions. Documenting stock received and reporting discrepancies. Maintaining inventory par levels and documenting orders for surgical supplies for patient care areas. Delivering supplies as needed. Maintaining records of equipment inventory use, frequency of servicing, and referring non-compliant equipment for repair. Responsible for quality assurance of all sterile supplies and instruments. Performing daily quality assurance checks on stock levels, sterility dates, and accuracy of procedure carts. Responsible for critical documentation such as biologicals and sterilizer load sheets. Qualifications Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association. Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician. Experience in a hospital with a minimum of 500 beds. Travel experience of at least 6 months. Two professional references from the last two assignments.
